[edit]Letter
[edit]ᨨ (cha)
- The 15th letter and seventh consonant of the Tai Tham Pali alphabet. In Pali it represents the unvoiced, aspirated palatal consonant /cʰ/.
Usage notes
[edit]In the modern vernacular languages, this letter represents the consonant /s/. There has been a strong tendency for the letters ᨨ and ᩈ to merge, and the stacks ᨧ᩠ᨥ and ᨧ᩠ᩈ may only be distinguished by the non-existence of the latter in Pali and Sanskrit.
