Usage notes
[edit]The form ἔστι(ν), with paroxytone accent, is used at the beginning of a sentence, following οὐκ (ouk), μή (mḗ), εἰ (ei), ὡς (hōs), ἀλλ’ (all’), τοῦτ’ (toût’), or in the phrase ἔστιν ὅτε (éstin hóte, “sometimes”). For more information see Appendix:Ancient Greek enclitics.
