Etymology

Borrowed from Hebrew יוֹחָנָה (Yōḥannā), feminine form of יוֹחָנָן (Yōḥānān). The Ancient Greek name is also the feminine form of Ἰωάννης (Iōánnēs), itself adapted from יוֹחָנָן.
