[edit]Generally considered to changed from あります (arimasu).
Had been occupational dialect used by prostitutes in Edo.

[edit]- (dialectal, obsolete) Nonstandard form of あります (arimasu, polite form of ある (aru, “to exist”); polite assertion). [18th–19th c.]
- 1781, Koikawa Harumachi, Mudaiki (無益委記):
- なんだか、ご法事にあふやうでありんす
- Nandaka, go-hōji ni au yō de arinsu
- Somehow, I'm feeling like I meet a memorial service.
