This is an irregular form of the following definition below; Shirō Hattori suggests it may come from Proto-Ryukyuan *in- (to go).

  1. conjunctive form of いちゅん (to go); went
    • Nantō Kayō
      あめが みやに/のぼて いぢへ/あかて いぢへ/大てたに/てるかは
      *ame ga miya ni / nobote ije / agate ije / OFO teda ni / terukawa ni
      *ami ga mya ni / nubuti 'nji / agati 'nji / ufu tida ni / tirukawa ni
      In the rain garden, / went and gone up, / went risen up, / the great [yellow] sun, / that of which hadth shone bright.
