LATIN SMALL LETTER SCRIPT R

[U+AB4A]
Latin Extended-E
[U+AB4C]
See also: 𝓇, , and
Script r in italic, as typeset in nearly all Teuthonista material

Translingual

[edit]

Design

[edit]

A handwritten 𝓇.

Symbol

[edit]

  1. (Teuthonista) A uvular vocalic 'r' (IPA: [ʁ]).

Usage notes

[edit]

In italics, this looks like a cursive 𝓇 (right). However, because Teuthonista is nearly always typeset in italics, there is no standard roman form. Proposals at the 1925 Copenhagen Conference include a reversed r; others resemble the Tironian et and a small turned 2 . The latter was used in the 1949 Principles of the IPA (as suggested notation for a voiceless [r̥]), and so is the form used above.
