Etymology

The Gyeongsang dialect form of Standard Central Korean 남이야 (nam-iya, “as for other people”), which apparently spread into Seoul Korean in the late twentieth century with South Korean modernization.

남이사 • (nam-isa)

1. (colloquial, derogatory) Used in place of 남이야 (nam-iya, “as for other people”) when dismissing people who are too nosy, with a connotation of "none of your business".

   남이사 뭘 하든 니가 뭔 상관인데?

   Nam-isa mwol hadeun niga mwon sanggwan-inde?

   Why do you even care about what other people are doing?

Usage notes

남이야 (nam-iya), which already had a rather dismissive connotation, is being increasingly displaced by 남이사 (nam-isa) in colloquial Seoul Korean.
