First attested in the Sinjeung yuhap (新增類合 / 신증유합), 1576, as Middle Korean 느러나다 (Yale: nulenata). Equivalent to 늘- (neul-, to increase)+ -어 (-eo, infinitive suffix) + 나다 (nada, to go out).
