[edit]An acronym of the first four letters of the Syriac alphabet, similar to the Greek and Hebrew order: ܐ (ālap) + ܒ (bēṯ) + ܓ (gāmal) + ܕ (dālaṯ); compare Arabic أَبْجَد (ʔabjad).
