[edit]From Khasa Prakrit [Term?] (compare Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀅𑀁𑀲𑀼 (aṃsu), 𑀅𑀲𑁆𑀲𑀼 (assu)), from Sanskrit अश्रु (áśru), from Proto-Indo-Iranian (compare Persian ارس (ars)), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂eḱru-. Cognate with Punjabi ਹੰਝੂ (hañjhū) / ہَںجھُو (haṉjhū), Hindi आँसू (ā̃sū) / Urdu آنسو (ā̃sū).
