[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian پرده (parda), from Middle Persian [script needed] (pltk' /pardag/). Compare Gujarati પડદો (paḍdo), Hindustani پَرْدَہ (parda) / परदा (pardā), Sindhi پَرْدو / पर्दो, Punjabi ਪਰਦਾ (pardā) / پَردہ (pardh), Nepali पर्दा (pardā), Maithili परदा (parᵊdā) / 𑒣𑒩𑒠𑒰 (paradā), Odia ପରଦା (paradā), Bengali পরদা (porda).
