Noun

-гӣ • (-gi) (Persian spelling ـگی)

1. alternative form of -ӣ (-i, noun forming suffix) used for words ending with the vowel а (a).

   мардона (mardona, “manly, masculine”) + -гӣ (-gi) = мардонагӣ (mardonagi, “masculinity”)

   бараҳна (barahna, “nude”) + -гӣ (-gi) = бараҳнагӣ (barahnagi, “nudity”)

2. (less common) alternative form of -ӣ (-i, adjective forming suffix) used for words ending with the vowel а (a).

   хона (xona, “home”) + -гӣ (-gi) = хонагӣ (xonagi, “domestic”)

Usage notes

• Usually only forms nouns, with most formed adjectives using -ӣ (-i) irregardless of the final vowel. However, there are some adjectives that use -гӣ (-gi).
