Suffix[edit]

-лъын (-lʔən) (dual -лъыт, plural -лъув'в'и, after consonants -ылъын)

  1. Suffix used to form nominals from adjectives or other nouns, and agent nouns from verbs.
    Кали -> калилъын
    Pattern, spot -> something with patterns or spots, spotted seal
    Ным(ным)- -> нымылъын
    Village -> one who lives in a village, villager, Alutor
    Таӄлипаӈки -> таӄлипаӈылъын
    Bake -> one who bakes, baker
  2. The L-proprietive, a suffix used to express possession. Having or being with the noun.
    Яӄяӄу йыррыплакылъу
    Seagulls have (wear) red boots.
    Ъыллыгын аккалъыт
    Father has two sons.
    Тылагун рыннылъын ту лалулъын. [1]
    I saw the horned and whiskered one. (Literally: I saw the one who has antlers and whiskers.)

Usage notes[edit]

For possession the G-proprietive, га- -лин is also used.
