- Used to form diminutives of (primarily) hard-stemmed feminine nouns.
Usage notes[edit]
- Triggers ablaut in the stem: o > a, a > e, ā > ie, y > i.
- Triggers palatalisation of a preceding velar consonant: k > c, g > dz.
