From Italian -eggiare, and probably intended to resemble -igi.[1]



  1. to become, e.g. ruĝa (red)ruĝiĝi (to blush).

  3. makes intransitive verbs out of transitive ones, e.g. komenci (to begin) (tr) ⇒ komenciĝi (to begin) (intr).
