An Iranian borrowing: compare Parthian 𐭀𐭅𐭀𐭓 (ʾwʾr), Middle Persian 𐭀𐭃𐭀𐭋𐭉 (ʾdʾly, booty, plunder), Pashto اوار (avār, plunder, spoil, prey, booty, pillage), Classical Mandaic ࡀࡅࡀࡓ (ʾwʾr /⁠ā̆vār⁠/, plundering) (from Iranian), Georgian ავარი (avari), იავარი (iavari) (from Iranian), ultimately from Proto-Iranian *HwarH- (to pluck, tear out; to rob, plunder).
