リチウム kanji

In your recent edit, you removed the {{ja-kanjitab|alt=鋰:rare historical}} bit. This kanji + reading combo shows up in a few sources, including Jim Breen's entry and the リチウム JA WP article. Given the timing and comparison with a few other first-half-of-the-1800s terms, this might have been an Udagawa term with a Chinese spelling, where the kanji later fell out of use.

Thank you for the push-back -- I've learned that I might be giving too much credit to certain sources.

Poking around in Google Books, I couldn't find anything valid at google books:"鋰" "は" and then selecting only books with preview available (since Google's OCR for Japanese is often terrible, I feel like we need to visually confirm accuracy, especially for rare and graphically dense characters like this), and indeed Google included a lot of confusing scannos from various editions of an Urdu magazine.  ?!? Even after filtering those out with google books:"鋰" "は" -urdu and then again selecting only books with preview available, all I got were scannos -- not a single valid instance of 鋰 in Japanese text for any reading or meaning.

Digging around in Udagawa Yōan's actual book, I find here (scroll down to page 6, right-hand page, bottom of the third column from the left; also here if Wayback isn't working) that he uses the spelling 利知烏母 (richiumu). I haven't gone through the whole book to confirm a complete absence of any instances of 鋰 (it's many volumes, and I can't find an electronically-searchable version), but I think odds are good that, if he was going to use this spelling, he would have done so even at the beginning of the book.

Given my findings, I added a usage note at 鋰 in this diff, please adjust as you deem appropriate.
