gonna boldly drop this on the grounds that we've been trying to move away from the Quotations header to inline and if something is only defined as an alt form, there aren't different senses for a quote to be ambiguous between, or if there are - put it on the cites page. PS, for the avoidance of people voting based on feelings about British vs American English, it might be wise to use an example of an obsolete alt form (that can be labelled obsolete) instead...

Stubifying alternative forms

Voting on: Adding the following text to the end of WT:EL#Alternative_forms:

Senses that are defined as alternative forms (or should correctly be defined as such) may only come with the bare minimum of information in order to prevent redundancy. Typically, in a group of associated forms, all entries but one should be stubs; for instance, naïveté is a full article whereas its alternative forms naivete, naïvete, naiveté, naivety, naïvety, and naivite are stubs. Such stubs may only have belonging to them the following entry elements (headers in bold):

  • Description
  • Glyph origin
  • The part of speech header
  • The headword
  • Inflection, Declension or Conjugation
  • Mutation
  • Quotations
  • References
  • Further reading
  • Anagrams
  • Syntactical categorization

Further, if any of the following should differ between the stub and the full article, that which differs and only applies to the alternative form (the stub) may also be included in the stub:

Any article element not listed here may not be included in alternative form stubs, including but not limited to all other headers, topical categorization, images, and example sentences.

  1. ^ Only the labels that differ between the full article and the stub may be included. For instance, the senses in anemia have the labels (American spelling), (uncountable), (countable), and (pathology) associated with them. The alternative form stub anaemia however may only have (British spelling) but not (uncountable), (countable), and (pathology).
