Stubifying alternative forms

Voting on: Adding the following text to the end of WT:EL#Alternative_forms:

Senses that are defined as alternative forms[alternative forms 1] may only come with the bare minimum of information in order to prevent redundancy. Typically, in a group of forms that are alternative forms of one another, the entry of only one form should have a full sense whereas the entries of all the other forms should have stub senses (if these senses are the only senses in these entries in that language, they are called stub entries (or stubs) and full entries respectively). A full sense is a sense to which no restrictions apply, a stub sense is a sense that contains only certain entry elements. For instance, naïveté is a full entry whereas its alternative forms naivete, naïvete, naiveté, naivety, naïvety, and naivite are stubs. Stub senses may only have associated to them the following entry elements (headers in bold):

  • Description
  • Glyph origin
  • The part of speech header
  • The headword
  • A definition line that only consists of a suitable template[alternative forms 1]
  • Inflection, Declension or Conjugation
  • Mutation
  • Quotations
  • References
  • Further reading
  • Anagrams
  • Syntactical categories

Further, if any of the following differ between the stub sense and the full sense, that which differs and only applies to the stub sense may also be included in association to the stub sense:

Entry elements not listed in either of the above sections are not to be included in association with alternative form stub senses, including but not limited to all other headers, topical categories, images, and example sentences.

  1. 1.0 1.1 This includes but is not limited to the use of the following templates: {{alternative form of}}, {{alternative spelling of}}, {{alternative case form of}}, {{obsolete form of}}, {{archaic form of}}, {{dated form of}}. On the other hand, {{synonym of}}, {{diminutive of}}, {{clipping of}}, {{ellipsis of}} and similar are not included.
  2. ^ Only the labels that differ among the different forms may be included. For instance, in the group of forms anemia, anaemia, anæmia, the full entry is situated at anemia and has the labels (American spelling), (uncountable), (countable), and (pathology). However, the stub entries at anaemia, and anæmia may only have the (British spelling) label, not (uncountable), (countable), and (pathology) because these latter three labels are applicable to all forms in this group.
  3. ^ This header may still be included for a stub if the header needs to be numbered (which is only the case if the stub is not the only form present in that language's article). In that case, it must be empty, meaning there must be nothing but whitespaces between it and the following header.
