Etymology

Not present until the late 18th century and borrowed from a Caspian language, bearing formerly also the forms گوله پر (gōla par), کله پر (kula par), meaning “leafy ball”, referring to the umbels, see گوی (gōy, ball) and پر (par, wing; feather; leaf).
