Etymology

From Danish abrikos, from Dutch abrikoos, from French abricots, plural of abricot, from Spanish albaricoque, ultimately from Arabic اَلْبَرْقُوق (al-barqūq, plums), from Ancient Greek πραικόκιον (praikókion), probably from Latin praecoquum, variant of praecox literally ‘early-ripe’.
