From Proto-Indo-Aryan *ā́śā, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ā́ćā ~ *aćas (region, area), perhaps from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 360: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "qfa-sub-bma" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF.. Cognate with Avestan 𐬀𐬯𐬀𐬵 (asah).[1]
