From the root ح ي و (ḥ-y-w). Cognate with Hebrew הֶחְיָה (hekhyá).

- wamin ʔāyātihi yurīkumu l-barqa ḵawfan waṭamaʕan wayunazzilu mina s-samāʔi māʔan fayuḥyī bihi l-ʔarḍa baʕda mawtihā ʔinna fī ḏālika laʔāyātin liqawmin yaʕqilūna
- It is of His signs that He shows you thunder for you to fear and to seek. And He brings down from the sky water to vivify the earth after its lifelessness. Verily, these are signs for thinking men.
