Borrowed from Persian نستعلیق (nasta'liq), a compound of نسخ (nasx), from Arabic نَسْخ (nasḵ, literally transcription), and تعلیق (ta'liq), from Arabic تَعْلِيق (taʕlīq, literally hanging, suspension), the names of two other styles.
