πρόσωπον
Ancient Greek

πρός (prós, “towards”) + ὤψ (ṓps, “eye”). The existence of Sanskrit प्रतीक (prátīka) indicates that this compound goes back to Proto-Indo-European *prétih₃kʷo-.
