Portuguese

Etymology

Probably borrowed from Old French froncir (to wrinkle, frown)[1], from Frankish *hrunkja "a wrinkle" from Proto-Germanic *hrunkijō, *hrunkitō (fold, wrinkle), from Proto-Indo-European *(s)ker- (to turn, bend). Less likely from Latin frango, frangere[2]; cf. however also franger.
