Etymology

From Old Galician and Old Galician-Portuguese pestana (independently attested in both corpora), of uncertain origin: probably from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 360: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "qfa-sub-ibe" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF. *pĭstannā.[1] Cognate with Portuguese pestana, Mirandese pestanha, Asturian pestaña, Spanish pestaña and Catalan pestanya.
