Dutch[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Attested in 1738. Derived from Bohemen (Bohemia). Originally the name of a farm, which may have been named in turn after its first owner. An alternative etymology proposes that the toponym derives from a residence called the Hof van Bohemen, the home of Frederick V of the Palatinate.
