Dutch[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Attested as Bollendorp in 1680. Difficult to interpret due to a paucity of old attestations. If the toponym is old, a derivation from Middle Dutch Bolle (a personal name) and dorp (homestead, village, settlement) is possible. If the toponym is young, a derivation from the plural form of bol (bulb) and dorp (village) is possible.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • Hyphenation: Bol‧len‧dorp

Proper noun[edit]

Bollendorp n

  1. A hamlet in Heiloo, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.
