There's a debate over what these are. Other than affixes, these could be considered particles. But sincerely, I don't know. Mglovesfun (talk) 16:50, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

If anyone could point me to this debate, I would be grateful. In this context, affixes are suffixed to bases, forming new words. When I came along, they were categorized as morphemes but headered as affixes. I am correcting them to affix, which is what seems more common (see e.g. Fortescue p. 300-323 for an Anglophone example). I do not myself see any meaningful difference between these and what we call suffixes in e.g. Germanic languages, though, except perhaps that the latter tend to be lexicalizing.
"Particle" is used a) about some enclitics that succeed the inflectional ending, like -li (but), -ttaaq (also) and b) about a class of uninflecting words that may be further analyzed. By the way, I have started WT:AKL (and talk page), if someone wants to discuss our (currently very sparse) treatment of Greenlandic.__Gamren (talk) 14:22, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
