From Gaulish *kingetorīx (literally warrior-king, king of warriors), from *kingess (warrior) + *rīx (king), from *kengets (warrior) + *rīxs (king), from *(s)keng- (to limp, walk lamely) + *h₃rḗǵs (ruler).
