Day of the Vow

  1. (historical) A religious public holiday in South Africa on 16 December, commemorating the Voortrekkers' victory in the Battle of Blood River in 1838. After the end of apartheid in 1994, it was officially replaced by the Day of Reconciliation.
    Synonym: (former name) Dingane's Day
