  1. A small market town and civil parish with a town council in Canterbury district, Kent, England (OS grid ref TR1859).

      In mediaeval times the river was much bigger, and the small village of Fordwich, beyond Sturry, (its church seen clearly from the train) was the port to which was shipped the Caen stone used in building Canterbury Cathedral.
