Etymology
[edit]Arabic غَوَازِي (ḡawāzī) (singular غَازِيَة (ḡāziya)) meaning "conqueror", i.e. conquering the hearts of the audience.

- A group of Egyptian dancing girls of the Nawar people, whose suggestive dancing was seen as improper.
