Etymology[edit]

First attested as thorne vierendeel and dat hornre vierendeel in 1408. Compound of the toponym De Horn (derived from Middle Dutch horn (sharp bend, corner)) and veld (field). De Horn was a hamlet and former administrative and legal district of Oostzaan.
