Via (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle Low German kabbelouw from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle Dutch cabbeliau, cabelliau. The form was later adapted to the modern (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Dutch equivalent kabeljauw, whose further origin is uncertain.
