German

Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] German Low German. The word originally meant “dirty linen” and is derived from the verb koddeln (to wash clothes superficially). The rhyming part might be based on Modder (mud), a (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Dutch form of which also led to English muddle.
