Etymology[edit]

(This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.) The name may come from Glasgow; John Haswell was born in Lancefield, Glasgow in 1812. Two streets in the Anderston area exist, Lancefield Quay and Lancefield Street, but it is no longer recorded as a place name.
