German

Lua error in Module:interproject at line 62: Parameter "dab" is not used by this template.

Etymology

Borrowed from English manager.

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /ˈmɛnɛd͡ʒɐ/, /-nə-/, /-nɪ-/
  • Audio:(file)

Noun

Manager m (genitive Managers, plural Manager, feminine Managerin)

  1. manager (see usage notes below) (male or of unspecified sex)
  2. agent of an artist or sportsperson (male or of unspecified sex)

Usage notes

  • The word is used in a narrower sense in German than it is in English. Generally, it refers to a member of the management of a company or profit-oriented organization, usually one of larger size.
  • Due to this use, German Manager may have a negative connotation, particularly in Socialist or left-wing contexts.

Declension

Template:de-decl-noun-m

Synonyms

  • (agent): Agent (more common; at least for sportspeople)
