From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Thai แม่โขง (mɛ̂ɛ-kǒong), contracted form of แม่น้ำโขง (mɛ̂ɛ-náam-kǒong). Cognate with (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Lao ນ້ຳຂອງ (nam khǭng) or ແມ່ນ້ຳຂອງ (mǣ nam khǭng).
