  1. One of the languages of the Metis people, spoken mainly in Canada. They exist along a continuum with three main types:
    1. A Cree dialect from northern Saskatchewan with some French borrowings.

    2. A variety of French with some Cree borrowings and grammar.
      Synonyms: Michif French, Métis French
    3. A true mixed language with many elements from both French and Cree.
      Synonym: French Cree
