OK. Is ə a vowel or a consonant? You've added it to consonants but have [ˈmɑnəɾ] as a test case. It should be unstressed if monosyllabic... --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 21:41, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

I may have done some things wrong, I don't understand Lua operators well.

It is a vowel. I added it to the consonants, so that [ˈmɑnəɾ] wouldn't be stressed as *[mɑˈnəɾ]; the stress is on the last vowel, unless that vowel is [ə]. In very rare cases, when all the vowels the word has are [ə], e.g. ղըրղը՛զ (ġərġə́z), շըրը՛խկ (šərə́xk), the last [ə] is stressed. Such rare cases can be covered by manually adding the stress mark. --Vahag (talk) 21:50, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

If the colloquial pronunciation can be completely derived from the standard pronunciation (which I don't know at present stage, perhaps some shared pre-processing is necessary), then it should best be done as a separate function that calls the pronunciation() function and applies replacement on its output. --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 23:04, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

In many cases the colloquial pronunciation cannot be derived from the standard pronunciation. A knowledge of a native speaker is required. In such cases I intended to feed the module a phonetically respelled input, as in բարբառ. In other cases, and such cases are too numerous to do them by hand, the colloquial pronunciation can be completely derived from the standard pronunciation. OK, so adding the generation of colloquial pronunciation in a separate function should work. The template {{hy-pron}} could check if the coll= parameter is present - if not, it would call the function for generating colloquial pronunciation, and otherwise it would call the pronunciation() function for the provided argument (i.e. the phonetic respelling). Yes, let's add it in a separate function. To simplify the matter, I have separated the generation of pronunciation from a phonetic respelling. Is it possible to show the result of the pronunciation.colloquial(), only if differs from the result of pronunciation()? Perhaps the module can return something that will trigger the respective if condition in {{hy-pron}}?
