Proper noun[edit]

Northern Altai

  1. A Turkic language spoken in the Altai Krai, Russia on the border of Kazakhstan. There is no mutual intelligibility with Southern Altai.

Usage notes[edit]

Written Altai is based on Northern Altai, but is rejected by Southern Altai children. Dialects include Kumandy and Tubalar.
