[edit]From earlier *θūmos, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰuh₂mós. Cognates include Ancient Greek θυμός (thumós), Sanskrit धूम (dhūmá) and Old Church Slavonic дꙑмъ (dymŭ), English dust.
