Expected reflex of Old East Slavic ети (jeti), from Proto-Slavic *jetì (“to copulate”).[1] Cognate with Middle Russian ети (jeti), Russian е́ть (jétʹ), ети́ (jetí), Old Novgorodian ѥти (jeti), Ancient Greek οἴφω (oíphō), Sanskrit यभति (yábhati).
