Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Indo-European *h₁lengʷʰ- (“light; move lightly”). However, it could instead be akin to Proto-Slavic *plęsati (“to dance”); see Old Irish lingid (“to jump”).
Contains the suffix *-sman.
