[edit]Uncertain. Possibly borrowed from Proto-Norse [Term?], from Proto-Germanic *krampaz (compare Swedish krämpa (“ailment”)), or alternatively, borrowed from Proto-Baltic *ramba- (whence Lithuanian rambùs (“sluggish, slow”)).
