Etymology[edit]

Derived from Proto-Indo-European *tews- (to be still). Akin to Sanskrit तुष्यति (tuṣyati) and तूष्णीम् (tūṣṇī́m), Proto-Germanic *þusiþaz (silent), Old Prussian tusnan (still).
