Proto-Uralic[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Janhunen (1981) suggests derivation as from *ńoxe- (“to pursue”) + *-ma. Possibly some way related to Omok нема (nema).
All reflexes outside Samoyedic indicate a further suffixed form *ńoma + *-la.
