And BTW *i-ḳăss, we should use *ɣ ie. move it to *i-ɣăss. For *sīn-, we don't use macron for long, but breve for short. Wiktionary:About Proto-Berber is not exhaustive on such points. It's a discussion I wanted to have with Meta but I need to read more before changing and expanding Wiktionary's coverage of PB reconstructions. Malku H₂n̥rés (talk) 14:01, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
As you'll learn after some reading, the prefix there should be *e-ɣăss. (Van Putten reconstructs it with *a- on his blog, but I guess he hadn't worked out the mid vowel harmony yet.) —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 15:39, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I checked his paper on MVH, and he reconstructs it with *a- there as well. I guess it's a conscious choice related to the fact that the process is phonetically conditioned even after the PB stage. I will move it to copy his preference. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 17:42, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
The entry is a StarLing mess, complete with a hilarious listing of "Aymara". The correct reconstruction would be *e-sen. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 15:28, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
